Amsterdam City Beaches

Amsterdam City Beaches

Seaside resorts of Zandvoort and Bloemendaal are popular around Amsterdam. Beaches like IJmuiden, Castricum, Egmond aan Zee, Bergen aan Zee and Schoorl are nice beach side destinations. Amsterdam provides beach-fun right in the middle of the city that's great fun particularly on warm summer days.

City beaches remain a great attraction letting you indulge in all the seaside activities or simply laze on beanbags.. There are nearly ten city beaches and the one atop the towering science centre NEMO actually overlooks the city. BovenNEMO in the city centre gets you enjoying with family or friends offering plentiful activities for kids.

Strand West
is a permanent beach located near Houthavens in Westerpark borough offering a panoramic view of River IJ. Enjoy cocktails or play volleyball. Blijburg aan Zee another popular sandy beach is quite bohemian. Located on IJburg island complex it hosts campfires as also DJ or live band.

Another popular beach is Strand Zuid City Beach that is a fully equipped beach and can even be covered in case of rain. Located on the harbor side of the RAI exhibition centre it is situated next to Beatrix Park, allowing all its 2000 square meters for fun and frolic. There are also some nude beaches around Amsterdam called naaktstrands in Dutch.
